Copyright

A copyright protects the physical form of your intellectual property, meaning the assets can be touched, heard, or seen. Examples include books and other written works, dances, photographs, works of art, music, television and movies, and several other creative and artistic forms. These items can all be physically reproduced, or “copied”.

Copyright can be sold, transferring ownership of the original works to another, and granting rights to reproduce and display the copyrighted work.

While recognition of ownership is automatic with the creation of the tangible item, enforcement against infringement will not hold up in court unless the copyright is formally registered.
